Decision Made

Recently we spoke with our local RE (Reproductive Endocronologist) and a new RE in Colorado. Both had a lot to say.

Though CCRM (Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine) is one of the best in the country, they cannot give us better odds on an FET (Frozen Embryo Transfer) cycle. This is because our embyros were not from one of their cycles or frozen in their lab.
We have decided to stay local for a few more FET cycles (we have 15 embyros frozen at day 1, and 4 additional embryos frozen at day 5). We are going to request some more testing locally (tests that CCRM suggested). And as long as those tests come out normal, we'll proceed here in IL.
Current RE gives us <30% chance of this working. We're taking our chances.

If, God forbid, these cycles don't work for us, we will be traveling to CO for a fresh IVF cycle.

We are looking at starting a new FET cycle in March.

Answers....

We have a consult with our current DR (local) on Jan 7th. We also have a phone consultation set up with a new DR (located in CO at one of the best clinics in the country) on Jan 19th.
Hopefully by the end of this month we'll have an idea of where we are headed.
So much to think about.

We wish everyone a Safe and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

2010 WILL BE OUR YEAR!

We were able to get a transfer in Dec of 2009. We thawed 8 embryos, 2 continued to develop and those 2 were transferred. We got good news at first, though low numbers, something was happening. But, turns out it wasn't our time.
We will attempt another transfer in early 2010 (possibly February).

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!!!

Over Due Update

Well, we’ve just finished up our 4th round of IVF.
This cycle, I responded to the meds the best. Which means, lots of great eggs but too much of a risk to do a fresh transfer. So, we froze everything. Again.
They were able to retrieve 41 eggs (WOW). Out of those, 36 were mature and 23 took to fertilization. The DR opted to freeze all 23 embryos at a VERY early stage. This way, when they are defrosted, the DR will watch them divide for a few days, and pick the best of the best. We are hoping that at least 10 will survive and thrive into transferable embryos. (Confusing, yes.)
Which means our final count is 23 very early embryos frozen, 2 great quality established embryos frozen, and 2 very low quality embryos frozen. This should get us our family, right? :-) Let’s hope.
While doing all the daily monitoring, the DR found a polyp in my uterus. So, I go in for surgery on Oct 13th to have that removed. After that, we go on the birth control pill for a month (which gives the DR’s control of my cycle) then the transfer will probably be in early January. I promise to update more often around that time. It’s just been a very busy past couple months.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, they do not go unnoticed. Love you all!

On our way...

We are meeting with the doctor next week to sign all our forms. We should begin meds the end of August. Don't worry.. the 'cRaZy' drugs don't start until, or around, the 11th of September. You are safe... for now :-)

We switched protocols again. We will be doing what we did last time around. It yielded less eggs/embryos, but the possibility of transferring the embryos while still fresh remains an option(Complicated reasons, but it was the best direction for us right now).

I'm sure I shared this video with most, but I found it very true to my heart, so I am sharing again (I hope the link works)
Tears and Hope - the infertility awareness project

Wish us luck on our next leg of this journey. All thoughts and prayers are always appreciated.
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

Love to all,
Beth.

New Plan For Us.....

We will be starting a fresh round of IVF in September, going back to the same protocol that we used on IVF #2, which seems to have worked the best. Best part is... it's still covered by insurance (which takes a lot of the stress away)

We have two frozen. Our record has been losing at least half in the thaw. Dr’s not sure these guys are strong enough to make it through the thawing process.

It’s the plan that works best for us, for many reasons. Right now, we are enjoying our break from all the doctors visits and meds. We’ll let you know an update in early September.

Enjoy your summer, time seems to be flying by!

Finally, some good news....

The lab FINALLY called us back! Though we only have 2 embryos, they look really good! (they scared us for nothing! The fact that we have only two stinks, but 1 is all it takes, right?!)
